Instruction

What is my Style of Instruction?

Instruction in PE is a little bit different than most other classes. Instruction needs to be clear, vocal (loud enough), and precise (to the point)

  • When I teach in Phys Ed, I try to hit as many Multiple Intelligences as I can, those being visual-spatial, auditory, interpersonal, and body-kinesthetic.

  1. Visual-Spatial

  • The usage of the whiteboard allows students to see what is expected of them. It also foreshadows what the day will look like for students that may get confused or have hearing problems

  2. Auditory

  • I would read out the whiteboard to the students so that they can both look and listen to what the lesson looks like. If students have questions or are unsure of what is expected of them, this is the point to start asking.

  3. Body-Kinesthetic

  • After reading the instructions to the students, I perform a demo to the students of what I want to see and what I don't want to see.

  • I pick students student volunteers to show what I want to be illustrated

  • On sports that students are comfortable with (ex. basketball players during the basketball unit), the experienced players help with instruction and demonstrations as they become leaders within the class given the role of coaches to others in helping the developing students further their skills.
