University of Lethbridge graduate. I spend my first two years of post-secondary schooling at the Medicine Hat College before transferring to Lethbridge to finish my UT Education/Kinesiology degrees. I am interested in the brain and the body and one day I would like to be involved in learning or teaching more about the brain and body which leads me directly into a physical education environment along with a science class (Biology). Long term, I am interested in working in a Soccer Academy where I can combine my passion for soccer, coaching, and teaching. One day, I would like to go back to Europe and develop my own school sports academy where I can help my city and also be with the family that lives back in my hometown.

Education

University of Lethbridge

2015 - present

  • PS1 --> Mount Mountain Horse School (Grade 5)

    • Taught PE, Math, Science, Art, Language Arts

      • Grade 5 was a special grade for me and I really enjoyed my time learning a lot from various teachers and also learning from the students in understanding different students' needs and wants.

  • PS2 --> Saint Mary's School (Grade 7, 8, 9 PE and Science 7 K+E)

    • Created my own units for PE at all grade levels.

      • Each unit was developed to try something new and challenge students.

      • Students were evaluated in all units. Units lasted on average 1-2 weeks.

    • Taught science to students with slower processing abilities that need more time to do work than the majority of students.

      • It starting tough as I was not totally sure what each student was capable of but as time went, each class got better and the weeks flew by as a standard was set.

  • PS3 --> Irvine School (Grade Kindergarten, 7, 8, 9 PE | Health 9 | CTF Fitness 7, 8, 9)

    • I created units that were new to the school and as a result new to the students.

      • Units included Pickleball, Lacrosse, Tag Rugby, Basketball, Volleyball, and a Games Unit.

        • The rationale behind using different sports than what students are usually accustomed to is to both introduce and potentially build a positive experience with the sport(s) and pursue a future in that field.

    • Health 9: Students are introduced to Life Learning Choices which include things such as:

      • Time Management Skills

      • Organizational Skills

      • Decision-Making Processes - The concept of risk taking

      • The concept of personal interests and goals

        • Creating Resumes

      • Experiencing "The Real World"

        • Take Your Child To Work Day (Nov 1)

    • Familiar with the Collaborative Responsible Model (CRM)

      • Through my time at the school, I experienced 2 6-week intervals of the CRM being implemented within the junior high teachers into chunking problems and trying to address them one at a time (big problems first).
